SOSFA+AFFF Pre-Budget Submission for the Commonwealth 2025/26 Budget

In January 2025 the SOSFA Governing Committee collaborated with the Australian Fragility Fracture Foundation to lodge a joint pre-Budget submission for the Commonwealth government 2025/26 Budget.


In this submission we call for the Government to invest $1.8m over three years into the Fragility Fracture Registry, including funding for initial data entry staff to assist facilities in transition to using the Registry system.

It is encouraging to see such a dedicated pre-budget submission focusing on health initiatives, as advocacy for structural support is something I reflect on deeply while navigating the intensive rigors of my current PhD research. Balancing my doctoral studies with a part-time job at last minutes assignments has given me a front-row seat to the modern student experience, where the pressure to master complex technical frameworks often clashes with the mental and physical strain of overwhelming deadlines; having suffered through many high-stress hustles and sleepless nights during my own college days, I am now incredibly conscious of the toll an unmanaged workload takes on one’s overall stability. The budget discussion is important and shows real concerns in healthcare planning. It explains things clearly. I remember when I had to take my online exam for me during a stressful time, and it helped me stay focused. This post reminds me that awareness leads to better decisions.
